Day Trading
Day trading offers more profitability, more trading activity and the opportunity to combine it with longer term trading, in an effort to pick better entry points
Day trading is definitely not for everyone as it stimulates emotional reactions on the untrained trader’s mind, but for those who have done mentored training the opportunity for profit is huge, in fact the most profitable traders are strictly day traders and traders who pick the very tops and bottoms, staying in a trade for a maximum of 2 to 3days.
It is however possible to combine both trading styles, and trade both the daily futures contracts as well as the quarterly ones. Here are the major advantages of day trading:
• Reduced contract margin requirements
• The ability to pick the very top or bottom of the trading session
• The ability to use time zones, within the daily session to identify times of highest probability trades – swing traders cannot do that
• The ability to watch the close, that is the final 30 minutes of the trading session, the close is an indicator itself, even swing traders pay attention to the close and often enter positions on the last minute! That is to enable them to get the best entry price, most day traders don’t like the idea of holding overnight trades but this is an example of one point where day trading overlaps with swing trading
• Day trading can catch both dips and rallies in the same session, swing trading can’t
Regardless of how you choose to trade, be flat on the close or also hold overnight trades, you always will have to use day trading techniques to time your entries and exits. But even pure day trading is enormously profitable, many seasoned traders make an astonishing $10,000 a week, I have seen it and they do it for real, which stands to reason that these people have been well rewarded for so many years of focused work and effort.
But we have to be realistic here, the success ratio is about the same as the students who graduate from medical school, 90% of students of other professions would fail at medical school simply because they don’t have the psychology to deal with the subject or just don’t like the subject, in order to like what you are doing you have to have a thorough understanding of it and its purpose.
